It is the mission of universities and colleges to bring enduring knowledge to the student community. Time-tested principles are infused along with the supporting knowledge that helps understand concepts. The focus is on "state-of-the-art". The industry, in contrast, is preoccupied with "state-of-the-practice". It is what business demands. All knowledge is assumed and subsumed in work. Business ideally would like new recruits to perform work which is today anything but simple, contrary to what may appear, with the least amount of training and orientation. Currently, the wait time to get freshers to perform to customer benchmarks is 3 to 6 months at least. Companies are no longer willing to carry this cost. SALT has designed and developed programs to bridge this gap and make the students fully "employable" before they set foot on the employer's campus. Aggregating tons of first hand industry experience and leading sector specific expertise from around the world, these programs are aimed at making students "billable from day 1". Students are grounded in the latest work practices, processes, approaches, do's & don'ts, procedures, best practices, methods, tools and techniques. Everything in simulated, real-life customer project environments, with hands-on practice. The applications they work on are representative of the many categories of applications in deployment in corporate settings worldwide.
